Upcoming smartphones in 2024

iPhone 16 to Galaxy S24: Upcoming smartphones to wait for in 2024

Check out the most-awaited devices of 2024

For many, it is that time of the year when they’re in dire need of a phone upgrade. Depending on whether their needs require an entry-level, mid-range or flagship phone, these users have plenty of options to choose from right now, and even some year-end deals to help sweeten the deal even more. But what if your old smartphones still have some life left in them?

In such a scenario, you’d maybe want to wait and use your phone for a few more months, allowing you to buy an even more future-proof device when you do decide to get a new next year. If that sounds like you, check out these upcoming phones that are set to launch across 2024.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series

We begin with Samsung’s next-in-line flagship phones, likely to launch next month, and equally likely to be called the Galaxy S24 series. While Samsung has remained mum about these devices so far, rumours suggest the brand has three new devices in the pipeline, including a compact S24, a larger S24 Plus and the stylus-bearing top-end S24 Ultra. The new phones are expected to sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, and perhaps many more new features on the software part.

iPhone 16 series

The iPhone 15 series may still feel like it launched yesterday, but it has been three whole months since the phones came out, and as we inch closer to 2024, more heads are now turning to Apple’s next batch of phones, likely to be called the iPhone 16 series. While these devices are still over half-a-year away, they will be phones to wait for, as Apple is expected to make the Pro model larger next year, while non-Pro models are expected to get a capacitive new action button.

OnePlus 12

The Galaxy S24 series phones aren’t the only devices expected to sport the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The upcoming OnePlus 12 will also bring the chip and its new features, along with all the OxygenOS goodness OnePlus is known for, to India. With the OnePlus 12 has already launching in China, we do have a good idea of what to expect. The phone is expected to hit the Indian market in January.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 6, Flip 6

Samsung’s other major smartphone launch of the year will likely take place in the second half of 2024, and bringing us the successors to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Likely to be called the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, the new phones will likely also pack updated specifications including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, along with other new features. With Samsung close to perfecting the hinge on its foldables, they may even be the first foldables to actually feature official ingress protection against dust.

Xiaomi 14 series

Xiaomi’s own flagship phones are also some of the most sought-after devices every year, and the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series is expected to be no different. Just like the OnePlus 12, the Xiaomi 14 series has also launched in China, but while we do expect the phones to sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in India, other specification may change up a bit during an India launch. We will just have to wait and see when the brand launches the phones here, which could be in the next few months.

Nothing Phone (2a)

2024 is not just bringing new flagship phones to the market, but plenty of mid-range devices too, bringing powerful new tech to the masses. One such device is the Nothing Phone (2a), Nothing’s third smartphone. While the brand hasn’t revealed much about the phone officially, plenty of leaks have pointed towards the phone being a mid-range device like the Nothing Phone (1), being powered by a MediaTek chip. The phone is expected to go live during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 event, which is when we will likely know more about the phone.

Redmi Note 13 series

Xiaomi’s affordable sister-brand Redmi is known for bringing newer tech and specifications in a value-for-money package, especially via its popular ‘Note’ series smartphones. The brand is already gearing up to launch the new Redmi Note 13 series in India, which may feature multiple models that could bring some great value-for-money options across the Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 segment. The Redmi Note 13 series is expected to launch in India next week, so fans just have to wait a few more days to know what’s in store this year.

These are just some of the new smartphones we expect to launch in 2024. There will be plenty of more devices coming from these brands and others, perhaps even including some secret launches like the Nothing Phone (3) or the iPhone SE Gen-4. Only time will tell. All you need to do now, is begin saving up for that new device!
